About the Shop

Hinksford Farm Shop is a small, family-run fruit and veg shop in the village of Hinksford, just down the lane from Kingswinford (DY6), on the edge of the Black Country and the start of the South Staffordshire countryside. The shop is Kush's. He opens it, stocks it, runs it and closes it — seven days a week, every week. There's no rota of staff, no head office, no marketing department. Just Kush at the counter, usually with a kind word for whoever walks in, and the kind of small shop where the person behind it actually owns the place. He's built it on three things: fair prices, fresh produce, and local wherever it makes sense. The fruit and veg come in as close to the source as he can get them. The bread is baked each morning in Kinver by Kings Fayre and walked in fresh. The milk is Mawley Milk, from a family dairy in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire — pasteurised but not homogenised, so the cream still rises to the top. Proper Good Dairy fills in the rest of the cold shelf. The butter is Netherton. The honey is Holy Austin, kept near the rock houses at Kinver Edge. The eggs are free-range from Shropshire. The flowers are Hinksford-grown. If you tell Kush which day you want a specific loaf, he'll order it in for you. If you've got more bags than hands, he'll carry them to the car. If your kids want to feed the ponies across the road, he'll send them off with a carrot in each hand. None of that's on a service menu — it's just how he runs the shop. There's no meat and no fish — the focus is on everything else a good kitchen is built around. And the motto on the door is the motto he works to: fair, fresh and local. If you're in Kingswinford, Stourbridge, Wordsley, Wall Heath, Kinver, Himley, Wombourne, Sedgley or the villages in between and you're after a farm shop that feels like a village shop, come and find us. First-time visitors get the same welcome as the regulars — and most first-time visitors end up as regulars.
